Manufacturer calls back beef salami because of plastic pieces

Chiemgauer Naturfleisch GmbH from Trostberg in Upper Bavaria has started a recall for the product "Chiemgauer Naturfleisch-Rindersalami". According to the company, plastic pieces can be contained in the salami.

The Chiemgau natural meat slaughterhouse from Trostberg (Bavaria) calls back sliced beef salami. According to a message published by the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety on its portal "lebensmittelwarnung.de", the sausage could contain plastic pieces in the 65-gram packaging.

Foreign bodies in food

In food production, contaminations or foreign bodies such as plastic residues occur from time to time. Such foreign objects can cause many different injuries and complaints. Depending on the size, nature and material of the swallowed part, chewing injuries can occur in the mouth and throat. They can also block the esophagus and digestive organs. If smaller parts remain in the body, they can also cause inflammation. Internal injuries cannot be ruled out either. (ad)
